Workshop: Rope Bondage Primer with DutchZ @ Early to Bed
Apr 24 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Rope Bondage Primer with DutchZ

Monday, April 24th at 7:00pm – 9:00pm

From soft and sensual to tight and demanding, there’s hardly an item the shop more flexible than a length of rope.

With some simple knots, rope restricts a person’s movement, positions them just so, even sends the mind wandering.   Beautiful woven patterns trace and decorate the body’s curves like custom-fit clothing.  At its most intimate, rope is a superconductor for transmission of energy between partners.   It can free us from our earthly bond and send the human form into the air using only a few basic techniques and a some physics.

If you’ve been thinking about dipping your toe into rope play – or if you’ve dipped your toe and you’re ready for something more, this is the workshop for you.

The workshop includes hands-on sampling of different types of rope, a discussion on acquiring and caring for rope, and a brief historical look at the sensual use of rope around the world. We’ll explore the conversation with our partners about rope bondage, what we might do while bound, and the dialog necessary throughout a session. We’ll also highlight what it takes to be safe: review and reduction of risks, obtaining and preserving consent, and the basic checkpoints for a sensible approach.

Attending with a partner is encouraged, but not necessary!

Bio:

DutchZ has been a fan of bondage and dominance since his college lab partner brought a length of stretchy rubber hose over for a “study session” in the 90’s. The stumbling and research began. This coincided with the proliferation of social networks – revealing there were plenty of like-minded folks ready to exchange ideas and techniques! Over the last decade, Dutch has engaged photography, an old hobby, as both a creative medium and development tool for his practice of shibari and kinbaku-inspired rope bondage.   From his rope studio in Rogers Park, he continues to work, play, and discover in pursuit of his 10,000 hours. Dutch is #1794 at LRA Chicago. Find him on FL as DutchZ. #2495446 at MM. See some of his work at dutchz.com.

Workshop: Rope Bondage Practical with DutchZ @ Early to Bed
May 15 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Rope Bondage Practical with DutchZ

Monday, May 15th at 7:00pm – 9:00pm

From soft and sensual to tight and demanding, there’s hardly an item the shop more flexible than a length of rope.

With some simple knots, rope restricts a person’s movement, positions them just so, even sends the mind wandering. Beautiful woven patterns trace and decorate the body’s curves like custom-fit clothing.  At its most intimate, rope is a superconductor for transmission of energy between partners. It can free us from our earthly bond and send the human form into the air using only a few basic techniques and a some physics.

If you like playing with rope and are ready to learn some skills and techniques for serious fun, this is the workshop for you.The workshop is the sequel to Early To Bed’s Rope Primer, but that is not a prerequisite. We’ll do a quick summary of the material covered in that workshop – and if you can tie a square knot, you’ve got all the skill you need.

You’ll learn some quick and practical cuffs, single-column, and two-column ties;  tricks for managing extra rope, and how to execute a two-rope Japanese-style box tie (a.k.a. Takate Kote, or TK) – the foundation of many, many bondage ties.

Attending with a partner is encouraged, but not necessary!
