Doing it Again: In Depth

We are huge fans of Tobi Hill-Meyer’s previous work, and so we are thrilled for her latest project, Doing it Again. This erotic documentary will take an intimate look at trans women, their relationships, and sexuality. The film will interweave interviews with trans women and their cis and trans partners with explicit sex scenes. Tobi Hill-Meyer is, as usual, committed to sharing the voices, relationships, and sexualities of trans women in a media environment where they are usually portrayed one dimensionally. This is a sexy project, but it is also strongly political. As Tobi writes,

Stereotypes and prejudices around trans women’s sexuality influence public policy, access to healthcare, workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, “trans-panic” defenses in murder trials, and so much more.  Trans women are alternately portrayed as hypersexual, deceptive and predatory, or portrayed as desexualized and pathetic. The goal of this project is to create depictions of real humanity and allow trans women to take control over how their sexuality is portrayed.

Doing it Again has already reached its baseline fundraising goals, but there is still time left to meet stretch goals to make the production even better and have a broader reach. So, go ahead and donate to the kickstarter if you feel so inclined. And be sure to check out Tobi Hill-Meyer’s other productions, The Genderfellator and Doing it Ourselves.
